The Promised Neverland and its portrayal of female characters

First off I'm going to say if you haven't seen Promised Neverland yet please do because it is honestly one of the best anime to come out of  2019 and season two is supposed to be coming out this January so nows the perfect time, however, if you have a week stomach or get scared easily I wouldn't recommend watching it alone. But I'm not here to talk about just why it's so great or why I love it so much, I'm here to tell about the very interesting way female characters have used are portrait why I find it so interesting and different it is from the rest of the anime industry.  There are three elements I want to cover and two of them are around specific characters, those are the main protagonist Emma, the main antagonist Sophia aka "Mother", and the dystopian world they live in. I'm going to start with the world and will say that this is the first and only *spoiler warning* in this paragraph. Promised Neverland is set in the not so distant future of 2...

A certain not complicated character flaw

I have recently been binge-watching the A Certain Magical Index series on Crunchyroll. It's a long series with a weird timeline, mainly due to the fact that the airing date and actual event timeline in the show don't line up perfectly. However since there are many shows like this, there is a simplified viewing order for new viewers that's purpose is to be able to watch it chronologically enough without messing up the airing order too much, and getting the best experience possible. The start of this viewing order was actually its sister show A Certain scientific railgun , which follows a female side character of the main show and her name is Misaka Mikoto.  A short non-spoiler summary (at least so far because I'm not done with it yet) of is the series: the  A Certain Magical Index  series is set in the highly advanced academy city that's home to students across the world that possess various abilities that are ranked on a system from 0-5 five being the strongest, wh...

LOST & FOUND

Image
For my creative project, I did a movie poster for this original story that I've been working on for a long time. Basically, the story is about this girl La, and her journey in finding out what self-help is. When I basically I mean basically, and that I'm turning this in late because I've written a god Three different versions of this blog post they've all ended up the same way with me writing a three-page "Brief" summary.  The reason I did my own story for the creative project that's meant to represent some sort of unrepresented background of people, is because for the past year I realized that I wanted for La to help give a better image of what day to day life with certain mental illnesses is like. Specifically, I mean Complex PTSD, Comorbid PTSD, and Major Depressive Disorder. To add a little bit of education to this I'll tell you what each of those is.  Complex PTSD is defined as "PTSD caused by multiple traumatic events, not just one", wh...

Next Feminist wave

At this moment we are in what is known as the Fourth-Wave of Feminism, which had started sometime in 2012. In this wave of feminism, the method of which made it stand out from previous waves is the ability to use internet tools. With this, the main message and focus on the empowerment of women and intersectionality were then able to be spread anywhere and by anyone. Because of this, things like sexual harassment, body shaming, and rape culture, and the people that act on them, we're able to be put in the eyes of the world what it really is and how they affect their victims. People's voices were finally able to be truly heard, while people were able to be held accountable.  However, like I stated the current movement is one that was able to get many things done, and in my opinion, one of the most accomplished fazes because of how much it changed society. But as many of us know as the people living through, there is much more to be accomplished. So where does that leave the next ...
